2017 Google Trends: Ebony, Afia Schwar most searched people on the internet in Ghana

Comedian and presenter Afia Schwarzenegger and musician Ebony were the top 2 most search people on the internet in Ghana for the year 2017.

This is according to the list of top 10 people searches in the country according to search engine giant, Google.

Afia Schwarzenegger occupied the top position while Ebony came second.

Others who made the list included Medikal, Kaba and ousted Gambian leader, Yahyah Jammeh.

Indeed, the search for information on all these people was fueled by controversy they had caused that sent social media buzzing in the country.

Afia Schwarzenegger for instance, was caught in a controversial cheating allegation which saw her ex-husband live record himself barging into a room that saw the comedian half naked.

The topic and its related developments were discussed for weeks.

Ebony undoubtedly blew many Ghanaians away with her rather suggestive dressing and sensual music themes clothed in formally packaged songs.

She has since generated a lot of talks, from her appearance in public with her clothes exposing parts of their body and allegations of her showing her vjayjay at a recent event, many obviously were searching on google to see more.

Its been a good year for Medikal, he came up with a number of songs that did well. His feature on ‘Trumpet’ et all all boosted his visibility and appeal.

Kaba’s death was among the biggest news to occur in 2017.

Although it is less than 2 months ago, it ended at number 4 on the top 10 people searches on google.

The impasse and political standoff in the Gambia was a major news all across the continent. People wanted to know what next, what had become of the long-serving leader, Yahyah Jammeh.

Nana Akufo-Addo was elected in historic elections to become Ghana’s president. He was sworn-in on January 7 and many have been keeping track of his utterances, performances and actions since then.

The death of Captain Mahama was something that had never been heard of before in Ghana. That a military man was ambushed, lynched and burnt by residents of an area he was deployed to and they alleged that they suspected him of being a criminal. It threw shivers down the spine of everyone.

Ace broadcaster Christopher Opoku died this year reportedly of a cancer in London.  It was sad for Ghanaians especially sports lovers who enjoyed his presentations and over the years and for the many people he mentored.

Famed Ghanaian boxer Bukom Banku was dealt a serious blow when he was knocked out by a former captain of the amateur Ghanaian boxers, Bastie Samir.

That bout was extremely hyped and it was really grand.
