2017 Hajj is poorly organized because gov’t refused to consult its predecessors – Suhuyini

Former Communications Director of the National Hajj Board, Alhaji Alhassan Suhuyini has observed that the current board is failing in most aspects of its arrangement in this year’s pilgrimage because they have refused to consult their predecessors.

Reports were rife in the media that some pilgrims to the holy land of Mecca were sleeping in the open and those who were lucky being house in warehouses contrary to arrangements that they will be properly housed and fed.

But the Member of Parliament for Tamale North Constituency said this year’s Hajj is a complete failure blaming the current board for it.

On Tamale-based Zaa Radio, he observed that if the current board had consulted their predecessors some of the challenges they are faced with would not have happened.

“If the current Hajj Board had consulted us as the former board, we would have used our experience to help them organize it (2017 hajj) successfully. Because we are Muslims”, he added.

He did not mince words in mentioning the failure to airlift the pilgrims on the first day, the lack of washrooms at the Hajj villages and the poor conditions under which the pilgrims passed nights in Medina for lack of accommodation as some of the challenges
