A former school prefect of Achimota Senior High School has married his gay partner in the America, yen.com.gh has reported.
The man, identified as Stephen Kabutey Ofoi Ceasar tied the knot with his long-time American partner at a ceremony in the US in the presence of his Ghanaian family and his partner’s America family.
He was a perfect between 1993 and 1994 and was at a point the host of Smash TV, an entertainment program on Metro TV.
Photos of the couple hit the internet over the weekend with many surprised that the Ghanaian had taken that bold decision in the face of the serious criticism against the practice in Ghana.
It is unclear how long the two had been engaged but it appears they had long been together.
One cannot also say clearly whether the Stephen was a gay while in Achimota School several years ago.
The civil union between Stephen and his American male lover comes on the back of Ghana moving for plans to criminalize homosexuality in the coming months if not years. In fact, the speaker of parliament, Mike Ocquaye Jnr, has been documented lashing out at Human Rights Group – Amnesty International – who called on him to relax his stance on gay rights.
