The fire, which is reported to have started at about 8pm threatens vehicles that ply the route.
There is currently some in the area as motorists are struggling to make a detour to avoid having the vehicles caught up in the inferno.
Heavy smoke could be seen billowing from the scene.

Drivers are advised to exercise caution as they approach the area close to the Weija Barrier.
