Kenya: Supreme Court annuls presidential election results; orders for a new poll

Kenya Supreme Court has annulled the 2017 presidential election which saw Uhuru Kenyatta reelected as president.

According to the court, the election was marred with irregularities which harmed the vote.

The presidential election, which was on August 8, saw the incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta return to office with a 54% win.

However, the Raila Odinga, his main opponent, refused to accept the results from the Electoral Commission.

This morning, judges at the apex court ruled in favour of Raila Odinga, who ask for the nullification of last month’s election and called for a new poll.
