Jodie Whittaker was the first choice to be the new star of Doctor Who.
The Broadchurch star was announced as the replacement for Peter Capaldi, who will bow out during the Christmas special.
The 35-year-old is the first woman in the role, something which new showrunner Chris Chibnall was keen to see happen.
Chris, who worked with Jodie on Broadchurch, said her audition ‘blew us all away’ and that she was the only person he wanted to cast.
