A groom left paralysed in a freak accident on his stag-do has defied the odds to say his vows standing up.

James Thorpe, 29, was told he would never walk again after he almost died after slipping over in the sea.

But despite the horrific nature of his injury, the firefighter was able to pull himself on to his feet to say his vows just one year after the accident in a Disney-themed wedding on Saturday.
