The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were among those ready to greet Roger Federer as he won a historic eighth Wimbledon title and both offered their most sincere congratulations for his success.

Prince William and wife Kate Middleton were both in the royal box on Centre Court for the Swiss’ record-breaking title win, which saw him become the most successful male player ever to play in SW19.
