#NSMQ2017: Prempeh College’s road to the final

Prempeh College will be hoping to lift their fourth National Science and Maths Quiz today when they triumph over St. Thomas Aquinas and defending champions Adisadel College.

Prempeh College begun their title race from the 1/8 stage of the competition.

Their first contest was against St. Louis SHS and Toase SHS.

Triumphing over St. Louis and Toase SHS, they advanced to the quarter-final stage and faced Ghana Secondary Technical School (G.S.TS.) and Aduman SHS.

In their quarter-final meeting against GSTS and Aduman SHS, Prempeh College mercilessly blew their opposition away with 82points; the highest score for any school to have recorded in this years competition.

After crossing that hurdle, they faced a more stiffer opposition; last year’s finalist Mfantsipim and one of the solid teams from the Volta Region, Mawuli School.

At the 2016 competition, Mfantsipim made it to the final by beating Prempeh College at the semi-final stage. However, there was a turn of events at this year’s contest.

Prempeh College revenged their painful defeat by running over two-time champions Mfantsipim and Volta Region’s Mawuli School.

They now face defending Champions Adisadel College and 2013 champions St. Thomas Aquinas in a bid to win their fourth title.

The last time they won was in 2015 after they beat Adisadel College and University Practice SHS.

Should their dream of lifting the trophy come true, they become the second most successful school after Presbyterian Boys, Legon (PRESEC) who have already won five trophies in the competition.

Prempeh College enter into the final as the favorites to win the 2017 National Science and Maths Quiz.
