Aisha/Asia Huang the Chinese galamsey queen in Ghana

Top Immigration boss in trouble over leaked galamsey queen’s tape

The Second-in-Command at the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), Chief Supt Peter Adu Appiah, is in trouble over a recording of a conversation between him and two other men in relation to a leaked tape with galamsey queen, Aisha Huang in the Ashanti Region.

The GIS boss who doubles as the Head of Enforcement and Intelligence Bureau is being investigated over comments he was said to have made on tape which is being aired by local radio stations.

The leaked tape, according to Head of Public Relations at the Immigration Service, Superintendent Francis Palmdeti, puts the officer [Chief Supt Peter Adu Appiah] in a complicit position.

“Some recordings on some local FM stations in Accra have come to our attention and we have invited the officers to come to the head office,” he said.

Palmdeti speaking on Accra-based Joy FM said “I am not at this moment in the position to start commenting on something that is under investigation. Individuals mentioned in the tape will surely have the opportunity to also state their side of the story.”

The tape, according to media reports, appears to be a recording of conversation between Supt Adu Appiah and two other men who posed as staff of the Flagstaff House who came to the GIS Ashanti Regional office in Kumasi during the arrest of Aisha Huang.

This comes after the release of the sex tapes and photographs.

Aisha is perceived as untouchable, having built a network of influence in high places in the country with her ‘woman power,’ on which she and her gang rely for protection whilst engaging in galamsey.

Aisha Huang together with four Chinese illegal miners are facing prosecution for offending immigration laws.

They have been charged with illegally employing foreign nationals as well as disobeying a directive by the government to stop illegal mining.

The four alleged ‘galamseyers’- Gao Jin Cheng, 45; Lu Qi Jun, 39; Haibin Gao, 26 and Zhang Zhipen, 23, reported to be a kingpin in the galamsey business, were on May 9, 2017 remanded in prison custody by the Criminal Division of the Accra High Court.
