No one wants to hear about your magical prom night, about how you and your high school sweetheart slow-danced to Green Day’s “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life),” or that you made it to second base, or that it was your first time in a limo. No, we want the good (read: embarrassing) stuff, like how in my prom limo ride, my friends and I accidentally broke the sunroof. Or that I couldn’t go to prom with my girlfriend at the time because she was a year younger than me, and her mom wouldn’t let her mingle with this misfit, so I had to go with her friend, who ended up hooking up with one of my friends.
That kind of stuff.
If you have an amusing prom story, even if it doesn’t involve drinking candle wax (yes, this happened; no, I don’t remember what I was thinking), Jimmy Fallon wants to hear it. “Tweet out a weird, funny, or embarrassing story about your prom and tag it with #PromFail,” the Tonight Show host tweeted before Wednesday’s episode. “Could be on the show!” He also shared a photo from his prom, when his date “didn’t tell me she was getting a tan and high heels for the prom. Standing next to her I looked so pale and so small.”
The submissions are already rolling in.
That’s not a prom fail. It’s a cry for help.
