[Photo] Freemasons promote Fmr. President Kufuor

Former president of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor has been promoted to the position of Senior Grand Warden by the Grand Master of the Freemason Society, His Royal Highesness, The Duke of Kent.

The announcement was made public by the Freemasons Society using their official Twitter page yesterday.

Rumors were ripe in the country that the former president of being a member of the Society, also known as the Grand Lodge, but for the lack of evidence, it was brushed aside.

Last year, Member of Parliament for Efutu in the Central Region, Alexander Afenyo Markin, a Catholic, revealed that he was a member of the fraternal society.

“I am a mason and I have not been sanctioned by the Catholic Church. Freemasonry is a fraternal society that believes in God Almighty and follows certain principles that guide a man’s life and it does not run counter with my believes as a catholic” – he said in an interview

Many world leaders are known to be members of the Grand Lodge.
