Kotoko Coach Michael Osei believes his side were unlucky to record a win over Hearts of Oak in the semifinal clash of the GHALCA G6 tournament on Sunday.
The Porcupine Warriors missed out on an opportunity to defend the title after losing 6-5 on penalties to their bitter rivals after the game had ended 1-1 in regulation time.
The Reds were hoping to win the trophy for the second straight time having clinched the maiden edition last year at the Essipong Stadium.
Michael Osei says luck eluded his side which cost them the defeat.
“I think luck was not on our side, we played good football, we dominated and as you saw we needed a win but it didn’t happen that way,” he said after the game.
“Penalties can go in favor of anyone and we were unlucky it did not go in favor of us, we will go back and prepare for the season.”
Accra Hearts of Oak will now take on Aduana Stars in the finals which will be played on Sunday.
