Esinam Afi Seade has been elected president of University of Ghana’s student representative body. She becomes the second lady to be elected as President since 2007 when Carol Serwaa Donkor was elected winner.
The first round of the election, which was held on the 21st of April, failed to elect a winner as neither of the seven candidates failed to obtain the 50% plus 1 vote required.
In today’s runoff election, Esinam Afi Seade garnered 3,665 votes out of the total 6,871 votes, representing 53.27% with Emmanuel Adu Amofa securing 3,206 votes, representing 46.73%.
In a message to her fans after the declaration of the results, Esinam Seade thanked her supporters and reemphasized that the students were her focus.
