The first ever Ghana CFO Awards held over the weekend at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra attracted the creme de la creme of the financial sector, the event celebrated the positive impact of financial Executives to the growth and sustenance of their organisations. It was a night to remember as the movers and shakers of the industry were awarded.
CFO Award is the first of its kind in Africa, aside South Africa and Nigeria, Ghana is the third country to honour financial executives. Ghana CFO Awards is a yearly event recognizing the accomplishments of financial executives and organization for their financial leadership and contributions to their companies’ growth. It is a unique platform to lift the veil on exceptional roles played by financial experts toward sustaining their organisational growth.
Among awards won are the Best Bank, Provider of Cash Management Services, Business Bank of The Year, CFO of the Year (Banking), Finance Team of the Year, Industry Personality of the Year, CFO of the Year (Insurance), CFO Of the Year (IT/Telecom), CFO of the Year (Consumer Goods) CFO of the Year (Auto), CFO of the Year (Services/Logistic), Outstanding Contribution to the Growth of SMEs, SME Financial Leader of The Year, Woman Excellence in Finance.
Speaking at the event, the Group CEO of InstinctWave/Group Publisher InstinctBusiness and convener of the Award, Mr Akin Naphtal said Ghana’s financial sector has undergone significant changes in recent years.
“Executives have had to step up their ante which has led to the transformation we are seeing right now. Innovative products and services abound and customers are smiling. It is with this backdrop, that we set up the Ghana CFO Awards.
CFOs in organisations most often take their role very serious yet they are not honoured in any way. This award, he said will go a long way to challenge Finance executives to do more.
“It is a project that will look at those executives that have performed extraordinarily well and deserve to be honoured. Indeed, the importance of the finance Industry cannot be overemphasized, considering the fact that it is the sector that drives many other sectors,” he added.
The award winners expressed their gratitude to the organisers for the putting up the event. Speaking on behalf of all winners, Edward Botchway, CFO of Ecobank Ghana commended InstinctWave for such a novelty. He challenged his colleagues to move beyond their comfort zone and use the awards as motivation to work harder.
The maiden Ghana CFO awards night attracted CFOs from different industries across Ghana and creating a platform to recognise CFOs who usually operate in the back end of the business without any recognition for their immense contribution to the success of their organisations.
