University of Ghana Set To Roll Out Controversial 'Feeding Program' For Students

Bush canteenBarring any last minute intervention, the University of Ghana will roll out a controversial meal plan policy that seeks to ensure students are served “wholesome and hygienic food on campus.”

The policy which was initially planed to be implemented in the 2013/2014 academic year was suspended due to fierce opposition by students of the University.

Freshmen of the University of Ghana will be the first to benefit from the policy and it is expected that fees of all student beneficiaries of the program will see a slight increase.

Labelled the “University of Ghana Meal Plan Policy”, it was based on research findings by the Noguchi Memorial Institute few years ago that foods served from various eateries on campus were unhygienic.
