Nana Abrewa Kwabiaa IV is facing the wrath of the Association of Queen mothers publicly calling for the legalization of same sex marriage in the country. According to her, it will help Ghana control the high birth rate in the and subsequently promote even distribution of national resources.
She was speaking at the launch of the book ‘The History of Akwamu’.
“When gay marriage is legalized in Ghana, I would be happy because the population of this world is increasing by the day and that would help check that because a marriage between a man and a man would not produce children and same applies to that between a woman and woman…,” she said.
The US Supreme Court recently ruled for the legalization of same-sex marriage across the country. The ruling has received mixed reactions from the public especially people in Africa who had described it as ‘immoral’.
But the Queenmother believes it would be in the interest of Ghana to legalise it.
She was openly opposed and condemned by the Adontenhene for Senchi, Nana Oduro Dapaa.
Spokesperson of the Association of Queen mothers, Nana Akyeabea, who is also the Queen mother of Akuapem Akropong says Nana Abrewa Kwabiaa IV will be invited by the executives of the association to answer question about her infamous statement.
