This is How Facebook Is Celebrating Same-sex Marriage Legalization in the US!

facebook lgbtOne of the world’s biggest social media networks, Facebook is joining the million of same-sex marriage advocates to celebrate yesterday’s supreme court ruling for the legalization of same-sex marriage across the United States.

The 5-4 majority vote ruling implied that all states including the 14 states where the practice was deemed illegal must accept it.

Not long after the historic ruling, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerburg took to his Facebook page to express excitement about the ruling.

The company has since launched the “Celebrate Pride” page that will automatically decorate your profile picture with the rainbow flag, commonly known as the the gay pride flag or the LGBT pride flag

It had declared the month, LGBT Pride Month,

a moment to celebrate diversity and show our pride in the contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people to communities all over the world.

Facebook is a proud supporter of Pride, and employees in many countries are taking part in events and decorating our offices to show support. Here’s a photo of the sign at our headquarters. ‪#‎PrideConnectsUs‬

The decision by the supreme court has been welcomed with mixed reactions from various sections of the US public as well as some in other parts of the world.

Renowned evangelist, Franklin Graham has said the supreme court is not entitled to redefine marriage which has been predefined by God.
