UDS Honours Naa Dr. Andani Andan

Dr. Andani AndanThe University for Development Studies has unveiled a Plague in honour of the Late Naa Dr. Andani Andan. The ceremony was held at the Academic Board Chamber on Thursday, June 18, 2015.

It was in recognition of his immense generosity to the university by donating the piece of land on which the University’s Central Administration, the School of Medicine, the School of Allied Health Sciences and the Graduate School are now situated.

The Academic Board of the University has thus named the UDS Academic Board Chamber after the Late Sagnari Naa Dr. Andani Andan. Henceforth, it shall be called Sagnari Naa Dr. Andani Academic Board Chamber (Dr. Andan Chamber for short.)

Speaking at the Ceremony, the Guest of Honour, His Royal Highness, the Chief of Sagnerigu expressed deep gratitude to UDS for the honour done his predecessor, the Sagnarigu Traditional Council and the entire people of the Sagnaregu Traditional Area. He added that, he and his people will forever remain grateful for this gesture shown them and that Naa Dr. Andani Andan will never be forgotten, not even to generations yet unborn.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Haruna Yakubu noted that, the Late Dr. Andan saw the need to support the University as a way of supporting the development of Ghana by inviting the University to take from his traditional area as much land as was necessary at the time. Thus, for a man of his calibre, naming the Academic Board Chamber after him could not have been more appropriate. “We believe the Academic Board Chamber will undoubtedly serve to inspire the many persons who use it for various purposes and to remind them about the need to support the development of their communities”.

Also present to grace the occasion were the family members of the Late Chief led by Kpan Naa, Abukari Andani, some Deans, Directors and Heads of Department of the University.
