The amount forms part of the over 800million cedis projected flow of the GETFund to be spent on various Education Sector Priority Project and Programs.
A document intercepted by Radio Univers’ parliamentary correspondent Jonas Nyabor pegged the expected 2.5% VAT expected to accrue to the Fund this year at GH¢ 843,899,000.22.
According to the document, the first phase of work for the establishment of the University is complete.
The 5 million Ghana cedis earmarked is to meet the funding requirements of some aspects of the project and associated programs in its second phase.
The Planning Committee for the establishment of the University chaired by Professor Raymond Bagulo Bening, a former Vice Chancellor of the University for Development Studies on Monday, presented the final report on the preliminary stage of work to President Mahama at the Flagstaff House for onward procedures.
The project is in fulfillment to an election campaign promise by President Mahama.
