VIDEO: Ghanaian Policeman Takes Bribe in an Unconventional Form!

3On a usual weekday around noon, this uniformed Police MTTD officer on motorbike is seen passionately doing his work of ensuring drivers do not wrongfully park or pick up passengers in the middle of the road at the DVLA License Office Bus Stop near Maxmart at 37.

Carefully observing his work on two occasions, he seem to be swift in identifying road traffic erring by drivers but interestingly sanctions and slap drivers with a spot fine, MTN Mobile top up card!

Depending on the gravity of the offence, he charges between 2 cedis and 10 cedis.

On a second encounter with him and his activity (10th June 2015), I was told he had already ‘fined’ 10 drivers with each purchasing 5 cedis worth mobile airtime for him.

“That’s all he does. I don’t think he buys top up cards again because for instance, he has already go about 50 cedis from 1o drivers”, an informant said.
