The Electoral Commission (EC), on 2nd May, 2015 issued a press release concerning new arrangements for the conduct of the District Level Elections (DLE).
According to the release, the EC will prepare a new legislation to be passed by Parliament before fresh nominations are taken for the elections.
On 27th February, 2015, the Supreme Court declared the District Level Elections, which was scheduled for March 3, 2015 as unconstitutional.

NEW ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE CONDUCT OF THE DISTRICT LEVEL ELECTIONS (DLE)
In view of the Supreme Court ruling ordering that the District Level Elections processes should be conducted afresh, we wish to inform the general public that in total compliance with the said ruling the Electoral Commission will prepare a new legislation to be passed by Parliament before fresh nominations are taken for the elections.
