The minority in parliament on Wednesday abandoned parliamentary sitting to join in the New Patriotic Party’s ‘won gbo’ demonstration.
As at 12 noon, two hours into sitting, only 5 members of the minority were seated in the chamber.
At the commencement of sitting, speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Edward Doe Adjaho announced that most members of the minority side including leader, Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu were absent from the house because they had joined in the NPP’s ‘won gbo’ demonstration currently ongoing at the Accra Hearts of Oak Park in Accra.
In spite of the low turnout of the minority proceedings went on as usual with Parliament concluding consideration of the customs bill.
The ‘Won Gbo’ demonstration according to he NPP is for Ghanaians to express their displeasure in government’s inability to solve the worsening power crisis in the country as well as the declining rate of the economy.
