During this period, it isn’t strange to find most with very dry skins begging for water and looking as though they had applied flour on their body in the place of pomade.
Although we talk about the entire skin, the lips and heels are often times the worse affected parts of the body.
Here are a few tips to help you protect yourself from our annual Harmattan.
1. Apply shea butter or petroleum jelly
Shea butter and petroleum jelly are very common and affordable pomades you will need during this season to shield you from getting a dry and sorry-looking skin. They serve as the best cover of healthy oil over your skin hence protects you and your skin from the harsh conditions of the dry-cold weather. It is important to keep it with you so you apply it as soon as you realize your skin is getting dry.
2. Get a lip balm/lip gloss
This isn’t news to the ladies but guys, you need them too. Lip balm or lip gloss come in very handy and effective in ensuring you do not get a cracked, peeling and sored lip. You can apply this anytime, just ensure your lips is ‘shiny’ protective! Its better that way than to be sorry but this is not a license to apply, reapply and top up all kinds of lip balms and lip glosses to make your lips like its ready to fry fish.
3. Drink lots of water
The importance of water during this season cannot be underrated. Harmattan will do all it can to drain the water out of you so to stay on top of your game, fight back, drink a lot of water to keep you hydrated.
4. Eat lots of fruits
Vitamins like Vitamin C and A contained in fruits and vegetables like Apple, Carrot, Lemon, Tomato and Sweet Potato are good for keeping your skin fresh and smooth. You can make these fruits and vegetables your close companions during the season. They, aside ensuring you have a fresh skin serve other amazing health purposes.
