Leader of the International Godsway Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim has made new comments capable of fueling the ongoing ‘verbal battle’ between himself and TV Presenter Afia Schwarzenegger.
Bishop Obinim on Saturday morning noted on local TV channel, Metro TV that he was being persecuted in innocence.
According to him, he could not react or do things such as pronouncing curses or counter attack his accusers for Jesus’ sake.
“The name of Christ which we have taken upon ourselves limits us from taking certain actions such as pronouncing a curse or taking up guns or knives [against our accusers]” he said.
While delivering a sermon to congregants he quoted Matthew 5:11 saying;
“Blessed are those who are being persecuted for Righteousness sake”.
He charged members of his Kumasi congregation to be happy for all the happenings because they would be rewarded in heaven if they endured”
He also asked them to meditate on the portion of scripture that admonished Christians to be happy if they are falsely accused.
Bishop Obinim accused the media of being unfair in the ongoing feud between himself and Afia Schwarzenegger. According to him, the media was silent when she falsely accused him but jumped unto his case when he replied her.
“Isaiah prophesied that Jesus will be killed, and after his death, he was badly spoken of, he was recorded among the sinners in books concerning his death though he was without sin.
Jesus was recorded among the lawless. The worst of all, He was recorded among the rapists; a man who had no sexual relationship women,” he noted.
“It wouldn’t have been a problem if Jesus had a wife or a fiancée when he was accused of rape.” He added.
The spiritual leader however noted that the current ‘battle’ was going to be a victory for him.
“Jesus will fight and win our battles for us, we just need to be still”
