Boxer Michael Okine, popularly known as Ayittey Powers has called for a rematch between himself and Braimah Kamoko popularly known as Bukom Banku following a his loss to the latter on Thursday night in the much talked-about ‘Judgement Day’ bout, “Put up or Shut up”.
The Cruizerweight division non-tittle bout was expected to host boxers of weight not exceeding 200 pounds, however Bukom Banku weighed 218 pounds while Ayittey Powers weighed 200 pounds at a weigh-in session last Wednesday at the Accra Sports Stadium. According to the President of the Ghana Boxing Authority, Peter Zweenes, Banku was allowed to feature in the bout due to the non-tittle nature of it.
In the very exciting and entertaining bout on Thursday night, Bukom Banku won by a unanimous decision with scores 117-109, 119-100 and 120-108.
Many boxing enthusiasts openly criticized Ayittey Powers for putting up a dull and disappointing show against his long time rival, but the boxer insists it was because of Bukom Banku’s unfair additional weight over him.
