Gabriel Barima, the DCE who became popular for using the word tweaa and storming out of a durbar
A statement signed the Executive Secretary to the President; Dr. Raymong Atuguba said “the president acting on the Local Government Act section 204 has dismissed the DCE for Ahafo Ano South, Gabriel Barima with immediate effect.”
The statement also said the Ashanti Regional Minister has been directed to act until a substantive DCE is appointed.
Gabriel Barima was recently caught on film throwing tantrums and storming out of a durbar because a member of the audience reportedly said “tweaa” during his speech.
There were calls for his dismissal but Mr. Barima was reprimanded Local Government and Rural Development and allowed to stay on as DCE.
However another interview in which he said the video and “twea” had made him popular earned the wrath of the Minister of Local Government who issued a strongly worded statement to express his disgust.
The statement issued earlier on Wednesday said “In view of this development, the Ministry is reviewing its earlier decision to ensure that Hon. Barima is appropriately sanctioned according to the high standards of public office.”
