The Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East Constituency, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson has called for the prosecution of persons who consent to early and forced marriages in Ghana.
In an interview with 233 Live News on Monday at a seminar by Parliamentarians on Early and Forced marriages, the Honourable member said the act of children being forced into marriage was condemnable and as such needed effective laws to tackle it.
According to her, Parliamentarians must make news laws against the act and also enforce old ones to protect children.
She however stressed that Parliamentarians have the duty of educating their constituents and especially tradition rulers who are custodians of the land of the negative effects of early marriages.
