Akim Oda: Farmer Jailed For Stealing Plantain

barscuffs jail23-year-old farmer, Kwasi Kahoho has been sentenced to 18 months in prison by the Akim Oda Magistrate Court for stealing 11 bunches of plantain valued at 100 Ghana cedis.

Mr. Kahoho who pleader guilty to stealing was convicted on his own plea by Judge Albert Owusu Annor.

According to the Police Chief Inspector Adelaide Appiakorang, the complainant, Madam Akosua Aboagyewaa was a farmer in Aduasa who experienced frequent theft of her farmer produce at Nintankwanta.

On February 4 this year, a witness Mr. Kwasi Asebu while traveling in a taxi cab saw the accused emerging from the complainant’s farm with foodstuff. Mr. Kahoho stopped the same taxi to convey the goods, adding that, it was then that the witness confronted Kahoho in the car and he confessed having stolen 11 bunches of plantain.

The witness directed the driver to the Akim Swedru Police Station and handed over Kahoho to the police.
