UG Toll Booth Saga: "Arrest Toll Collectors, They Are Extortionists"

Road toll collectorsA former minister of interior has called for the arrest of personnel collecting tolls at all entry-points of the University of Ghana.

Nana Obiri Boahene in an interview with Accra based Peace FM said the private toll collectors employed by the University were engaged in an illegal act; “extorting money from drivers”.

According to him, the University of Ghana had no right to collect tolls from vehicles that ply roads on Campus since the decision was not backed by law.

He added that the University of Ghana’s action was an act of ‘taking the law into one’s own hands’.

“The University of Ghana does not own roads” he said.
