Radio Univers Donates Blood To Save Blood Bank

Radio Univers in collaboration with the National Blood Service is set to organize a blood donation exercise to save Ghana’s blood reserve from drying up.

The move according to Station Manager, Dr. Sadiq Abubakar was necessitated by the National Blood Service’s incessant call for blood to save the lives of patients in dire need of it.

He added that, the station owed society social responsibilities such as the blood donation exercise as its little contribution towards development.

In an interview with Mr. Felix Apertey, Blood donor recruitment officer of the National Blood Service, he said the Korle-Bu blood bank has been hit by a massive shortage of blood, making it extremely important for people to voluntarily donate blood.

“People should see it as their civic responsibility to willingly donate blood” he said.

The blood donation exercise will be held on Friday 21st February, 2014 at the ground floor of the Jones Quartey Building in the University of Ghana between 8am and 5pm.

Students and Staff of the University of Ghana and Radio Univers will be participating.

The general public is invited and encouraged to participate.
