Speaker of Parliament orders investigation into TDC demolishing exercise

ParliamentThe Speaker of Parliament has ordered investigations into the circumstances leading the demolishing of the houses at Adjei Kojo, a suburb of Tema.

Rt. Honourable Edward Doe Adjaho who seemed unhappy with developments in the area on Thursday directed the Parliamentary select committee on works and housing together with the committee on constitutional and legal affairs and some leaders of the house to look thoroughly into the matter and report back to the house.

The attention of the house was drawn to the incidence by Tema West MP Hon. Irene Naa Torshie Addo who expressed regret at the path towed by the Tema Development Coporation, TDC.

According to her, over five hundred (500) houses were razed, leaving about two thousand (2000) residents vulnerable.  The honorable member questioned the pro-activeness of the TDC, saying that some of the structures had existed for over five (5) years.

Hon. Torshie Addo who described the TDC’s action as inhumane is set to appear before the parliamentary committees as a witness.
