Head coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, Mohammed Polo, has revealed that there are divisions in the camp of the Phobians and that has caused a lot of uncertainty to grow within the team.
Polo was speaking after his team’s heavy 3-0 home loss to Wa All Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium in the first match of the second round of the First Capital Plus Premier League.
” What happened today was all down to a lack of unity in the team. The entire structure of the club has no togetherness and that has cost us today. There was a lot of disagreement as of the time I took up the coaching job, but someone had to take the job. There is a crisis in the team now, but unfortunately, I am the one who must take the pressure. Is it a crime to have taken this job?”
The Phobians were defeated through strikes from Samuel Boateng after 2 minutes, Abdul Ganiu on 50 minutes and Paul Asare DeVries 8 minutes later, but Polo said his team deserved to get at least a point from the game.
” Despite the fact that Wa All Stars scored three times, we also deserved some goals, but we did not put our chances away. Our opponents took theirs and got the victory. This thing sometimes happens in football. We will go back, plan better and bounce back for the next game.”
The result will increase pressure on Polo who has been strongly criticised by the fans over recent runs, which have not been favourable to the club.
Hearts of Oak will travel to Aduana Stars in their next First Plus Capital Premier League fixture to be played on the 15th of February, 2014.
