Pres. Mahama sets up advisory team to implement Ghana Infrastructure Fund

Ghana Infrastructure Fund CommitteeHis Excellency President John Mahama has appointed Mr. Ato Akwoi to chair the committee that will serve as an advisory team to implement the Ghana Infrastructure Fund.

At the Flagstaff House on Monday, President Mahama tasked the comittee to perform their responsibilities diligently.

The 6-member committee is made up of:

1. Mr. Ato Ahwoi – Chairman

2. Mr. Lionel Van LAre Dosee (Former governor, Bank of Ghana)

3. Mr. Tenu Awoonor

4. Dr. Emmanuel Kumah

5. Ms. Hannah Amoateng

6. Hon. Seth Terkper (Finance Minister)

 

The Ghana Infrastructure Fund (GIF) was set up to deal with the huge infrastructure deficit as well as focus on strategic projects that will lead to job creation.

In delivering the 2014 national budget statement in parliament last year, Finance Minister, Hon. Seth Terkper said a successful implementation of the GIF would provide several opportunities to apply national resources in various novel ways including long-term infrastructure bonds to accelerate the upgrading and renewal of critical national infrastructure.
