"KNUST wouldn't admit students awaiting results"

KNUST entranceThe Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is reverting to the old system of undergraduate admission.

The public Universities across the country were forced to admit students awaiting their West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results due to the introduction of the four-year Senior High School (SHS) system.

But after the four-year system was changed to three years, the universities had to admit applicants from the two streams of SHS graduates.

As a result, public universities were admitting students awaiting their results; a practice which had been ongoing for two years.

A public announcement on the website of KNUST indicated that persons qualified to apply to study undergraduate courses at the school excluded candidates awaiting results.

In an interview with citifmonline.com, the Public Relations Office of KNUST confirmed the reversal to the old system of admission.

An official explained that “from this year onwards, we aren’t going to have that three and four years SHS again and so we had to go back to the old system again of admitting those whose results are ready.”

The official therefore urged the general public to take note of the changes being made to undergraduate admissions.
