Ghanaian gospel musician Herty Borngreat has ruled herself out of the upcoming 2014 Ghana Music Awards following her decision not to present herself as probably candidate to be nominated for an award.
The multiple award winning musician on Friday stated that she had deliberately refused to pick up nomination forms for the upcoming GMA, which happens to be the most reputable music awards event in the country.
According to Herty, her decision not to pick up nomination this year is due to the fact that she needs to stay focus in her pursuit of higher education. She added that it was necessary she did so even though she knows she ‘deserves a lot of awards this year.’
I have decided not to pick a form for 2014 Ghana Music Awards which I know I deserve alot of awards this year.I am advancing my academic (Doing my masters) and need no divided attention.I wish all my colleagues who may contest this year all the best. You should take it cool but mind you on my return God willing with hard work I’m going to sweep everything including the over all Artiste of the Year and even BET.Love you all.
Herty Borngreat picked up two awards at last year’s Ghana Music Awards following an intriguing performance that got several Ghanaians talking especially about her ‘hyper showmanship’ which corresponded her pair of red jean trousers and multicolored hoodie that also complemented her ‘gospel raps’ during the about 15-minute long performance.
The artiste has over the years proven to be a force to be a tough force to reckon with when it comes to competing for the most prestigious award of the annual Ghana Music Awards; Artiste of the Year, an award that seem to be synonymous with secular artistes only.
Her ‘exit’ may mean no gospel artiste will be gunning for the 2014 GMA Artiste of the Year award.
