The awards, the brainchild of Stronghold Entertainment and Statsmedia Group, has been instituted to recognize and celebrate the significant role African DJs play when it comes to entertainment on the continent.
The awards was scheduled to come off at the Sandton Convention Center, Johannesburg, South Africa and is expected to award some of Africa’s finest DJs who have excelled in their field of work.
Myjoyonline.com cannot authoritatively confirm what might have necessitated the postponement but organizers posted on twitter that: “We regret to announce the postponement of #AGDAAWARDS which was slated to hold on Sat. 4th May @SandtonConventionCenter in S.A.”
Some Ghanaian DJs, including Ghana’s number one DJ, DJ Black, have been nominated in this year’s awards.
DJ Black, host of Open House Party on Joy 99.7 FM, has been nominated in three categories – Best Western African DJ, Best Radio DJ and African DJ of the Year – for the awards.
For the African DJ of the Year category, he will face stiff competition from DJ Aly and Fila (Egypt), DJ Fresh (South Africa), DJ Xclusive (Nigeria), DJ Crème de la crème (Kenya) and DJ Oskido (South Africa).
