KNUST SRC Elections Postponed Again; EC Accused of Attempted Rigging

The Student Representative Council election of KNUST has once again been postponed but this time, indefinitely.

The elections, which was originally scheduled to be held on Friday 5th April was first postponed to Tuesday, 9th April and now postponed indefinitely.

Having postponed the elections from 5th to 9th due to the absence of lecturers owing to the nationwide strike action by University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), many expected the elections to come off on the set Tuesday without hindrances, but, allegations leveled against the Electoral Commission made it impossible to continue till investigations were carried out and all parties involved satisfied with the laid down procedures.

For now, a new date hasn’t been decided upon, however, all stakeholders involved are ready to meet and sort out the differences so as to allow for the elections.

Meanwhile, University of Cape Coast (UCC) have elected David Boakye as the new SRC President.
