Tribute To Professor Chinua Achebe by Alhassan Albin Korem Jacob

The delta has dried up
The children stammer
The father of words is gone

With what voice shall we sing this dirge.?
The master of dirges is gone
And our broken dreams remain

We have lost what was not ours
Chukwu planted this tree
We hope it was Chukwu who uprooted it.

When the moon appears at noon
Who shall cajole it into leaving?

Oh chasm of death!
Eternity shall undo you.
We curse you with the blessings he gave us.
