In a bid to deepen the understanding of the economic development of Ghana, enhance budget transparency and promote social accountability in public financial management, Ghana has launched a mobile application to enable citizens, particularly its growing youth to access the 2013 National Budget on their Mobile Phones.
The Mobile Application, a joint initiative by the Ghana Centre for Entrepreneurship, Employment and Innovation, World Bank Ghana, Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Information and Media Relations, developed by Cellafrique.net is to afford citizenry the opportunity to monitor the progress of government in achieving its stated aims in the 2013 Budget.
The Ghana Budget 2013 Mobile App, as it will be known, allows users to easily access the 2013 Budget via their phones in an easy to read, screen compatible format. It is integrated with graphical data and offers graphs and charts on milestones of the Budget as well as provides for a forum to discuss the budget via Ministry of Finance’s Facebook page. The App which is currently available for Android phone and tab users can be downloaded via the google play store. To download simply type Ghana Budget 2013 in the google play store and click install to download the mobile app, which requires no sign-ins. Or click here to download. Subsequent launches for other platforms such as Apple,Symbian (Nokia) and Blackberry will be out-doored soon.
