Pope FrancisDirector of Operations of the Alliance For Accountable Government (AFAG), Davis Opoku Ansah has described the election of Pope Francis I as divine.

On Wednesday, Catholics all over the world welcomed the new Pope, Jorge Mario Bergoglio who takes over from Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. He chose the name Pope Francis I.

Pope Francis is known for his strict stand on gays as well as his stern critic of some actions of the Argentine Government.

Speaking on Peace FM’s Morning show, ‘Kokrooko’, with host Kwami Sefa-kayi, Opoku Ansah commended the Cardinals for heeding to the voice of the Holy Spirit, adding, he is the kind of person the world needs at this age and time.’

He mentioned that because the Pope is against the practice of homosexuals, he will be able to put a stop to it especially in the debate of whether gay marriages should be accepted or not.

“I see his choice as divine especially in this age where homosexuality is the talk of town. I will commend the cardinals for a good work done because you can see that this selection was from God; it was led by the Holy Spirit… The selection of Pope Francis is a huge victory for all who are against gay practice; because he is known to be against it. He does not accept it at all and so I am glad that they have chosen someone like that…” Davis Opoku Ansah noted.
