University of Ghana Cloth Thief Narrowly Escapes Mob Justice

Alex Asare being held at the porter's lodgeA young man was apprehended by the campus security patrol on Sunday morning for allegedly stealing clothes from Hilla Limann Hall; a situation that saved him from a mob justice.

Alex Asare, as he gave his name was caught by a student whose clothes he was collecting on from a dry-line.

A few students joined in interrogating the ‘thief’  which resulted in an eventual mob gathered at the scene.

The hall’s security quickly whisked Asare away as some students had already started heckling him.

It wasn’t clear whether he was a student as he claimed. It can be confirmed that such incident of stealing is not new to the Liman Hall.

The thief was taken to the Legon Police Station where he was realized to be a foreigner (not a student of the University) after questioning.

The student whose clothes were among those being stolen by the suspect, was at the police station to testify the clothes being stolen were his.
