President Mahama Pledges Full Support In Clearing Off Illegal Miners

John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday in a meeting with the families of deceased naval officers who drowned in the Pra River last week while chasing illegal miners in the area on Monday sympathized with them and pledges his full support in efforts to clear off illegal miners in the various mining communities.

The President also expressed his regret and sent deep condolence to the family of an experienced engineer who lost his life while working on the West African Gas Pipeline Project few weeks ago.

“I am appalled to see people engaging in ‘galamsey’, and especially illegal mining that take place in or near water bodies. I am going to support the Security task force working to clear the miners, and I want to warn those foreigners and their local collaborators that we are going to chase them out” the president said.

Pres. John Mahama is currently touring some major power generational sites in the country to assess at firsthand their present states and how they can be put into full use to better the energy problems facing the nation.
