AFCON 2013: Zoomlion donates $50,000 to supporters groupsZoomlion Company Ghana Limited has fulfilled its promise of supporting Government’s efforts at lifting as many fans as possible to South Africa to ensure massive support for the Black Stars at AFCON 2013.

Chief Executive Officer of the Company, Dr Siaw Agyepong on behalf of Staff and Management donated an amount of $ 50,000.00 to compliment government’s efforts in this regard.

The ceremony which took place at the conference room of the Ministry of Youth and Sports also had in attendance the outgoing Minister of Youth and Sports and MP for Anlo, Clement Kofi Humado who has been nominated to take over the Agric Ministry and Dr Omane Boamah-, outgoing Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports and now designated to take over the Communications Ministry.

The CEO of Zoomlion and Jospong Group of Companies, Dr Siaw Agyepong expressed his company’s delight to be associated with this worthy cause and also compliment government’s efforts in transporting as many fans to the Rainbow nation to cheer the Stars on to victory.

“We thought it wise to support government’s efforts and as such when we were approached, we thought it wise to give this a favorable response. The Company is delighted to be a part of the development and wish that our support would go a long way to aiding the Stars win the tournament.”

He also took the opportunity to admonish Ghanaians to massively support the Stars. For him, the team’s performances in the friendly game played so far should inspire a lot of confidence in Ghanaians and he believes that the side has the capability of winning the competition for a fifth time.

Coordinator of team Ghana for CAN 2013, Dr Omane Boamah lauded this notable gesture but also used the platform to call on other corporate entities to follow the footsteps of the Waste Management Company.

He also appealed to the various supporters groups who will be travelling to support the side to be circumspect of the rules and regulations in the host country in order not to put themselves at risk of falling foul with their law.

Ghana will take on two-time champions, DR Congo come Sunday 20 January at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth before taking on Mali and Niger respectively.
